Product Details:
The Pelvexiser is a pelvic floor exercise device that can be used in the home and often is used in conjunction with a clinical biofeedback therapy program. The purpose of the pelvexiser is to train and strengthen the pelvic floor muscles by showing the user that they are indeed contracting the correct muscles and allowing the user to track their increases in pelvic floor strength over time. The design of the Pelvexiser sensor is with biofeedback in mind. The shape and the function of the sensor will help the user to isolate and exercise the pelvic floor muscles effectively. The sensor for the pelvexiser is hollow inside, and the air hose which attaches the pump to the sensor fills the hollow sensor with air to the desired pressure. Because this is a closed system that maintains the pressure, like a baloon, when you contract your muscles around the pelvexiser sensor the needle on the biofeedback display moves according to the change in pressure you are creating by squeezing. Biofeedback is important because the user will get instant feedback about the strength of each contraction, as well as the duration of each contraction. After using the Pelvexiser for a while it will also be obvious to users that the strength of your contractions is increasing. For example note the pictures below. The first picture is of the biofeedback meter at 30 and the second picture is of the biofeedback meter at 50.

If you are starting to contract around the pelvexiser sensor at 30, and then at the apex of your contraction the meter reads 50, then you have produced a change in pressure of 20 on the pelvexiser sensor with your pelvic floor muscles. 20 is actually a quite significant change that many people work toward for some weeks. Many people start out by only being able to move the biofeedback meter by 1 or 2, but with practice and most importantly consistent use almost everyone will be able to achieve significant gains in pelvic floor strength, as evidenced by increasing change on the biofeedback meter during your contractions.
Pelvexiser Sensors:
The Pelvexiser has 3 different sensor sizes. Also presented here are images of the sensors with various pressures inside them, so you can get an idea of how the sensor expands slightly while providing resistance to contract the pelvic floor muscles against. First are images of each sensor with the dimensions of the sensor listed. Remember the pelvexiser comes standard with the medium sensor. (click pictures for larger images)

Now there are images of each sensor at different pressures. Note the slight expansion of each sensor under pressure. When inserting the sensor the pressure gauge may measure a small number without pumping it up. This measure is just your relaxing pressure or basically your 0, everyone will have a different relaxed pressure based on their own anatomy and muscle tone. During contractions you will be able to see the needle go up because your contraction is causing an increase in pressure in the closed system. As you continue to exercise with the pelvexiser the ammount of pressure you will be able to exert on the sensor will increase over time as your muscles become stronger. The pelvexiser can measure acurately up to 300mm/Hg of pressure.
